LOL your heart!

Laughter is a good medicine, we always hear.

I was sitting in front of TV one night with mom, while my sister is cleaning dinner dishes, my little sister is doing her assignment and bro and father are inside our store, when I saw an episode of a channel 7 program with a segment about laughter. There has been a lot of programs being develop to fight tendencies of one to be sad and thus take actions caused by this negative issue.

Laughter session is currently being presented to different institution as a way to induce and spread happiness. In most cases, agencies as jail, police, and stressful working environment’s management try their best to come up with solutions that will lessen sad mood in their environment.

One good thing about laughter is that, it can also be induced by oneself, meaning, you can laugh even without stimuli but yourself.

So how do we make laughter?

**Laughter is an audible expression or the appearance of happiness, or an inward feeling of joy (laughing on the inside). * When someone tries to voice our hahaha, or hohoho sounds from inside of them, that’s the time we are laughing.

Laughter/Smile is used as a signal for being part of a group — it signals acceptance and positive interactions with others, which is contrary to a sad face, a gloomy look and an atmosphere of heaviness.

**Laughter is sometimes seemingly contagious, and the laughter of one person can itself provoke laughter from others as a positive feedback.  It may come from jokes, tickling or other stimuli.* It is in most cases a very pleasant or happy situation and or sensation.

The bible inspires us to this. In Proverbs 15:13, a cheerful heart is a good medicine. It gives us a good thought that a happy heart, not just the face, is a good medicine – it is a key to be healthy and well. Once we have a happy heart, it outshines on a happy outlook and face – (Proverbs 15:13 –  A happy heart makes the face cheerful). Not just that, In Proverbs 15:30, it says that  a cheerful look (may it be coming from what you are seeing) brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

Thus a positive link of laughter to good health and perspective.

Sources of happiness can be inside and/ or out!

Make sense that those happy people are the ones who has long lives. One more good thing about laughter is that it is seemingly contagious and the laughter of one can provoke laughter from others.

Think happy thoughts! Share your happy thoughts!

Laughter can be as a coping mechanism for when one is upset, angry or sad. Whether we fake or the laughter is for real, there has been an assumption that it gives a good result on our physiological and psychological being, the benefits are the same.

In modern neurophysiology, it has been said that laughter is linked with the activation of a part of a brain that gives out endorphins.   They are produced by the pituitary gland and the hypothalamus in vertebrates (creation with backbones) during exercise, excitement, pain, consumption of spicy food. It produces analgesia and a feeling of well-being.

On a Harry Potter series, I have this idea of how Sirius Black (godfather of Harry) got himself stay sane inside the jail. The prisoners are already trapped in their own heads through the depression caused by the Dementors. While Dementors eat up your sanity by bringing you your sad memories and nightmares,  Siruis tries to remember all the good things, all the best memories, all the happiness he can remember from the past. Dementors wasn’t able to penetrate his sad thoughts.

What to fight stress? Take a good dose of laughter!
