How they celebrate their Christmas abroad, Pastor Boyet of JIL Milan shares.

It was time before the Jesus is Lord Church anniversary when me and my co-writers were invited to  witness a Pastor’s Congress the JIL way. There we interviwed pastors we would feature on the website. I was tasked to have a conversation with Pastor Boyet Dimaano of Italy, and ask how they spend their Christmas away from their homeland.

What’s in Foursquare?

Foursquare is a location-based social networking website, software for mobile devices. Users “check-in” at venues using a mobile website, text messaging or a device-specific application. They are then awarded points and sometimes “badges.” The service was created in 2009 by Dennis Crowley and Naveen Selvadurai.

foursquare.com/

Foursquare on your phone gives you & your friends new ways of exploring your city.

As of December 2010, the company reported it had 5 million registered users.

..and I’m proud to be part of it!

it is a web and mobile application that allows registered users to connect with friends and update their location.

..check-in anywhere you are, and when you tell foursquare where you are, that’s checking in. Friends would know where they can find you and you can earn points and badges based on your adventurousness. You can check in to any location: parks, airports, home, office, just about anywhere.

If a user has checked-in to a venue on more days (meaning only one check-in per day qualifies for calculating mayorship) than anyone else in the past 60 days, the check-ins are valid under Foursquare’s time and distance protocols, and they have a profile photo, they will be crowned “Mayor” of that venue, until someone else earns the title by checking in more times than the previous mayor.

Badges are earned by checking into various venues.
..but you need to have a smartphone because mobile check-in without the app can’t crown you mayorship.

Foursquare currently has iPhone, Symbian, Android, webOS, Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry applications.

If you want your location and shout out be published on foursquare just sign into your account and at foursquare.com/settings you’ll see the option to link Facebook.

2011 – to start or to continue

It’s 2011!

An ending marks the beginning of something else – 2010 has gone past already but I carry the happiness from the year that was leaving sad ones in the past.

It brought fort personal, family, community, church and nationwide experience and changes to each one of us. Some made it big, some failed, some gain, some lost – all under the sun and heavens. 2011 is not really a big leap of time, it was just a second of time away from 2010. 11:59:59 to 12:00:00 that is. Only a string of second attached. But what makes it special is the God-given chance for us to start, and for others, to continue.

Start another set of resolution, start a new perspective, start a habit. Continue to do good, continue to explore, continue to live. It sets another basic because our thoughts are psyched with the thinking that there is always a beginning and beginning marks new things, and new things are fresh, new things are a start.

Surely there are habits that needs to start, good old characters that needs to continue. The past year has thought us so many things in life that we must look back once and shot forth anew.
